I have a dispute with a Thai company, what should I do? |
| |
-
If you are having trouble with a Thai company for a commercial (not personal) transaction, please send a letter, fax or email explaining the situation to the Foreign Trade Promotion Office nearest you. Also please include your current contact information, so we can request additional information, if necessary. We will advise you as to what steps you should take next. Some situations involving two private parties may require adjudication within the Thai judicial system, as they would in the United States. A complete list of office locations can be located here.

If you are having trouble with a Thai company for a personal transaction (perhaps it occurred during your recent vacation), please contact the Tourism Authority of Thailand office nearest you.

What are some of the things being done at the Office of Commercial Affairs? |
| |
-
Well, despite the name of the office, we primarily handle regulatory matters. We monitor trade issues, U.S. regulations / laws that the U.S. government imposes (or is considering passage of) and their possible repercussions for Thailand (such as GSP, and AD / CVD). We also monitor trade statistics (some of which are available to the public on the left hand menu bar).
-
We assist Thai companies in locating US customers (in conjunction with our various local Offices of Foreign Trade Promotion).
-
We also assist US customers interested in making contact with Thai exporters or manufacturers and the promotion of Thai products here in the United States. While we do not have expertise in every commercial sector, we can assist an interested party with initial consultations on general business issues in Thailand and further direct you to the appropriate authorities for contact in Thailand.
